Angela Ryu began her brilliant musical career at age five in her hometown of New Denver, B.C. under the tutelage of Daphne Hughes. Four years later, she moved to Calgary to hone her skills at the Mount Royal Conservatory with the guidance of Bill van der Sloot. The Korean-Canadian violinist was a full scholarship student in the advanced performance program. Angela has won several national competitions, taking first prize at the Canadian Music Competition as well as the grand award at the National Music Festival.

Angela wins the Shean Strings Competition in Edmonton
She is awarded the Paul J. Bourret Memorial Award for best performance of Improvisation for solo violin by the late Canadian composer André Prévost
She is invited to return as a Young Musician Extraordinaire
2018
Angela places as a finalist at the 2018 Klein International Strings Competition
2016
Angela gives her debut recital as a Young Musician Extraordinaire in High River, having appeared as a soloist with the Calgary Civic Symphony
2013
Angela makes her orchestral debut with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra
