Nominated for two Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2025, Solidaridad Tango is North America’s original all-woman, diverse tango ensemble. The group was founded by Aparna Halpé in 2021 to create fair work, professional development, and performance opportunities for women tango musicians. Originating in historical tango performance focused on Golden Age styles, Solidaridad presents new music by women tango composers from around the world. With sold-out performances in Toronto, Oregon, and New York, and hot off a debut tour to Buenos Aires which included such iconic venues as Café Vinilo and Hasta Trilce, Solidaridad has been described as “bringing tango forward” by Laura Fernandez, host of Jazz FM 91’s Café Latino.
