Join local multidisciplinary Blackfoot (Kainai) artist Jared Tailfeathers and visiting duo Zarabān for an immersive multicultural experience celebrating creativity, collaboration, and cultural connection through music.
The three musicians will offer a learning session on cross-cultural rhythms and sound. In this free community event, they bring together Iranian santur, contemporary percussion and First Nations drumming circle traditions.

- Jared Tailfeathers, a High River resident, works with music, art, culture and story as a Blackfoot (Kainai) multidisciplinary artist, continually inventing, sharing knowledge, and refining his craft through hands-on exploration. He is the author of The Art of Making: Rediscovering the Blackfoot Legacy. As part of this event, Jared will showcase his custom-made instruments, answering questions about how sound itself can be channeled.
- Farhad Khosravi is a composer and santur player whose musical practice fuses Persian classical roots with contemporary ensemble writing. His work has received regional and national recognition, including Western Canadian Music Award nominations.
- A little-known fact about percussionist Daniel Stadnicki: in the early days of his career, he opened for KISS and won a MuchMusic award as a member of Serial Joe. He has since firmly established himself as a respected member of the music industry, acquired a PhD in music, and now serves as a popular music educator for Edmonton’s McEwan University.

Jared Tailfeathers
Jared is a practicing multidisciplinary, Blackfoot (Kainai) artist, musician, inventor, historian/ researcher, and author in Calgary and the greater Treaty 7 territory. He builds original musical instruments for interactive projects, performances, workshops, recording, and for sale.
He has worked and volunteered for prominent arts organizations like the Esker Foundation, Contemporary Calgary, Arts Commons, CADA, AUArts, and Major/Minor all ages, and executed organizational administration and artistic curation festivals. He believes that collaboration and the brainstorming of new ideas is key to having a good working relationship with a team and in community engagement.
Farhad Khosravi | Santur
Edmonton-based composer and santur player Farhad Khosravi has been described by the Calgary Herald as “musical in every way, … combining fine improvisational qualities with his command of the instrumentally attractive, melodically alluring sounds of his santur.”
Khosravi expands the genre of his Iranian classical music roots, merging new textures of percussion with Western cello and violin to create a modern mélange of East and West. His first album, Sleeping in Sorrow, was received with critical acclaim and Khosravi received a nomination for World Artist of the Year at the 2018 Western Canadian Music Awards.
Daniel Stadnicki | Percussion
Award-winning percussionist, music scholar, and educator Daniel Akira Stadnicki specializes in adapted drum kit practice. Based in Edmonton, he has performed across North America and Northern Europe, including the Stockholm Jazz Festival, the Dawson City Music Festival, WOMEX in Thessaloniki, Greece, and Sound Symposium in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Stadnicki recently completed his PhD studies in Music at the University of Alberta and is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at McGill University.
